Mortal Kombat 1 Tournament Rules

Ultimate Gaming Tournament - November 23rd

Welcome to GameHub JC’s Mortal Kombat 1 Tournament! Here are the full rules and guidelines for the event to ensure competitive integrity and fair play.

Tournament Structure

  1. Format: Single-elimination format, with each match played as:

    • Pre-Top 8: Best-of-3 games.
    • Top 8 and Finals: Best-of-5 games.

  2. Participants: Limited to 20 players.

  3. Game Settings:

    • Game Title: Mortal Kombat 1
    • Platform: PlayStation 5
    • Game Mode: 1v1 Versus Mode

  4. Definitions:

    • One (1) Game: Best of three (3) rounds.
    • One (1) Match: Best of three (3) games (pre-Top 8) or best of five (5) games (Top 8 and Finals).

  5. Stage Selection:

    • A coin flip will determine who is Player 1 for the first game.
    • Player 1 selects the stage for Game 1, Player 2 selects the stage for Game 2.
    • For a third game, if necessary, Player 1 selects the stage.
    • Players will play all three rounds within the same stage for each game.

Match Rules

  1. Controller Guidelines:

    • Standard controllers are allowed; no turbo, macro, or programmable controllers.
    • Players may bring their own PS5 controller or use one provided by GameHub JC.

  2. Pausing and Tactical Advantage:

    • Pausing the game to gain an advantage is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification at the discretion of the tournament host.

  3. Remake Procedure:

    • Console Crash: If the console crashes, the game may be remade. All character and stage selections from the previous game must remain the same.
    • Controller Disconnect:
      • First Occurrence: Pause the match and reconnect. The match resumes where it left off.
      • Second Occurrence: The player who disconnected will forfeit the current round, and the match resumes at the next round.
      • Third Occurrence: The player who disconnected forfeits the game, and the next game begins if necessary. If it ends the match, the opponent will advance.

  4. Score Reporting:

    • Players will report scores in a “Win/Loss” format.
    • Acceptable formats: 2-0 or 2-1 (pre-Top 8), 3-0, 3-1, or 3-2 (Top 8 and Finals).

  5. Gameplay Conduct:

    • Players are expected to uphold good sportsmanship and respect. Any unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification.
    • Cheating, glitch exploitation, or game manipulation is strictly prohibited.

Additional Rules

  1. Character Selection:

    • Players may choose any available character in Mortal Kombat 1.
    • Characters may be switched between games but not during a single game.

  2. Time Limits:

    • Players have 30 seconds between games to adjust settings or make character switches.

  3. Spectators:

    • Spectators are welcome to watch from designated areas but are not allowed in the play area to avoid distractions.

Prizes

  • Grand Prize: $200 for the tournament winner.
